  • Columbine Bar and Restaurant

7660 S. Pierce St., Littleton Southeast Denver Suburbs

    303-933-7474

Not to be confused with the Columbine Steakhouse & Lounge on Federal, the Columbine Bar in Littleton is mostly a sports bar that brings in live music on the weekends. While it can get fairly lively during those weekend sets, there’s also a colorful group of regulars who frequent the spot during the week. The menu is standard bar fare with a good selection of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and pizzas, as well as prime rib two days a week.
  • Room for Milly

    1615 Platte St. North Denver

    720-630-7020

Make some room in your life to sample cocktails based on the fictional exploits of Milly Parker in this lusciously decorated bar decked out in deep colors and intriguing artwork. Room for Milly has some of the best bathrooms in the Denver bar scene, with soap you might just be tempted to buy. The drinks are as swoon-worthy as the decor, and there’s a selection of small bites that are just right for snacking before heading out on the town.
  • Sketch Food & Wine

    11 W. 1st Ave. Central Denver

    303-484-9305

Sketch is an exercise in simplicity. There is no kitchen here, no real menu. But there is a sleek, comfortable dining room; a nice wine, liquor and beer selection (with bartenders who actually know a little something about the booze they're pushing); a good downtown vibe; and a short, tight menu of cured meats, cheese and high-grade bar snacks. Making an entire meal of this stuff can get expensive fast, but for a quick appetizer before the main course or an after-dinner stop for a last glass and a final nibble, Sketch is ideal.
