  • Farm & Market

2401 Larimer St., Denver Five Points/RiNo

Vertical farm, restaurant and market combo Farm & Market opened its doors in RiNo in September 2023, when it started slinging soups and salads with produce grown on its 1,100 hydroponic towers. The effort, which is fully wind-powered, comprises a farm; a market stand where consumers can buy produce like orange thyme, Black Magic kale and Pomegranate Crunch romaine harvested the same day; and a restaurant with a menu packed with the freshest produce around.

Located in Golden, not too far from the Coors brewery, In the Zone is first and foremost a sports bar. With eighty flat-screen TVs spread around the huge place (it's home to a 120-foot bar), chances are that any game that’s on will be showing on one of the screens, whether it's professional or college football, hockey, basketball, baseball, or UFC and NASCAR. While sports may be king at In the Zone, the spot also offers live music, DJs, poker and beer pong tournaments. The menu offers standard bar food, including wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads and pizza.

  • Modmarket

8500 Pena Blvd., Concourse B, Denver International Airport East Denver

The first Modmarket opened in 2009 in Boulder; the town seemed ideally suited to the eatery's seasonal ingredients and farm-to-table philosophy set off by a sleek, fast-casual setting. Now those behind the Modmarket concept are setting their sights on anywhere in the nation that people crave quick, fresh food. Salads, pizzas, sandwiches, platters and even breakfast change seasonally, and all are made with dietary concerns and diners who want a creative, healthy meal in mind. This is Modmarket's first Denver International Airport eatery, located in the B Concourse.

As its name implies, Scooter’s in Aurora is first and foremost a sports bar. You can catch any number of games on the hi-def TVs scattered around the place, as well as UFC fights. And although Scooter's, which also boasts a 1,700-square-foot deck, occasionally brings in live bands, there's usually dancing to DJs on Fridays and Saturdays, and karaoke is featured on Wednesdays. The grill's menu includes a variety of Mexican favorites, along with “build your own” burgers and homemade chicken-fried steak.

  • Ski Granby Ranch

40, fifteen miles north of Winter Park, Granby Mountains

    888-850-4615

At SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch, you can enjoy skiing the way it was in the ‘70s, perhaps even the ‘60s -- when you could park at the base of the hill, go to your car between runs to grab another sweater or ditch a layer, maybe even eat a sandwich. But while the feel at SolVista is laidback, all of the equipment is thoroughly up-to-date, and you won’t be waiting in long lift lines like they did in the ‘70s. The slopes are all impeccably groomed, and the view from the top of the mountain offers a stunning look at the old ranching community of Granby and the valley beyond. Special bonus: night skiing and tubing on the weekends.

  • So Perfect Eats

    278 Fillmore St. Central Denver

    303-862-9074

Located on pedestrian-friendly Fillmore Street, So Perfect Eats is a shopper’s dream, with a lengthy menu of soups, salads and sandwiches that are just right when you’re in need of a pit stop. Since the restaurant sits up a flight of stairs, the best way to find it is to follow your nose to the source of those sweet, buttery smells. In the early morning, the tempting scent is likely to be coming from baguettes and ciabatta, baked fresh by chef-owner Lynda Campbell, a New York transplant who left the fashion industry to open the cafe with her husband. These breads -- which Campbell learned to make in an artisan baking class, her only formal training – serve as the foundation for sandwiches made with real meat, not the nitrate-laden deli kind, and reflect the good taste of someone who might not be a trained chef, but who obviously has a background in entertaining. And creating entertaining sandwich combinations. There are also salads, soups and those delicious baked goods whose smell led you to So Perfect Eats in the first place. The only thing that could make this spot more perfect would be if it stayed open later for dinner.

  • Stack Subs

    420 S. Teller St. Lakewood

    303-742-7827

Stack gets its name from the precise layering of ingredients that gives each bite the same blend of ingredients. Sandwiches are built on oven-crisped breads -- white, wheat, gluten-free or pretzel roll -- and feature classic deli combos, like the house favorite Italian, stacked with Genoa salami, mortadella, pepperoni, hot capicola and provolone, as well as the sub shop's own creations featuring pesto and house-made spicy cream cheese. If a sub's not enough, try a milkshake mixed on an old-school blender with real ice cream.
